Raut's statement came after the incident where Kulwinder Kaur, the woman CISF constable stationed at Chandigarh Airport, reportedly slapped Kangana Ranaut on Thursday. He emphasized the need to maintain the rule of law and not take matters into one's own hands, even when sentiments are high.
«If the constable has said that her mother was also sitting in the farmers' agitation, then it is true. If her mother was there and someone said anything against it, then it would create anger,» Raut said, as quoted by ANI. He further added, «The people in the farmers' agitation were sons and daughters of India. If someone insults Bharat Mata and someone is offended by it, then it is something to think about.»
Raut also appealed to the public to respect the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi, stating, «I have sympathy for Kangana. She is an MP now. An MP should not be attacked, but the farmers should also be respected.»
