Congress chairman Sonia Gandhi on Saturday was unanimously elected as the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, PTI reported citing sources.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had proposed Gandhi's name for the said post during the party's meeting and leaders like Gaurav Gogoi, Tariq Anwar, K Sudhakaran had second the proposal.
It is to be noted that, Sonia Gandhi, a Rajya Sabha member, has been re-elected to the said post.
Earlier today, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) passed the resolution that party MP Rahul Gandhi should be appointed as the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha.
