Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan" has quickly soared to become Netflix's most-watched film in India within a mere two weeks.
Netflix proudly announced the milestone on Twitter, stating, «Vikram Rathore has hijacked our hearts and records! 'Jawan' is now the most watched film in India in the first 2 weeks of launch, across all languages, on Netflix!»
Released on September 7, «Jawan» has not only claimed the title of the highest-grossing Indian film of 2023 to date but has also amassed over Rs 1,100 crore in worldwide box office collections.
The film set an array of records at the box office, securing the highest advance bookings and surpassing the $1 million ticket sales mark, a feat no other Bollywood movie has achieved. With an impressive Rs 75 crore collection on its opening day, «Jawan» even outperformed SRK's previous film «Pathaan» in terms of the highest opening day collection.
On the fourth day of its release, «Jawan» continued its triumph, collecting Rs 80 crore, once again setting a new record.
The movie swiftly crossed the Rs 400 crore and Rs 500 crore collection marks, making SRK the only star to boast two films with over Rs 1,000 crore in box office collections in the same year.
Directed by Atlee, «Jawan» hit theaters worldwide on September 7, featuring versions in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film explores the emotional journey of a man, portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan in the dual role of Vikram Rathore and his son Azad, as he strives to rectify societal wrongs.
In addition to Khan's stellar performance, the movie boasts a star-studded cast, including Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, with special appearances by Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt.
