Manu Saigal, Director-General Staffing, Adecco India, says, “In the lead-up to the festive season, there's a noticeable surge in hiring, particularly in retail, logistics, e-commerce, travel & hospitality, and BFSI industries, with an increase of over 20%. This highlights the strong demand for skilled workers to meet heightened consumer expectations and the uptick in business activities.
The hiring surge primarily targets roles critical to the season's demands, including sales and customer service representatives, technical operators, recruiters, as well as pickers and packers. This emphasizes the necessity to cater to the accelerated demands of a bustling domestic market.
Employers in these sectors are actively reinforcing their teams to ensure smooth operations and provide exceptional customer experiences, aligning with the festive fervor that is characteristic of this time of the year.”
Staffing solutions provider NLB Services estimates 20% more jobs to be created this year over last year. It sees telecom, retail, e-commerce, logistics & supply chain, travel & hospitality, and BFSI as sectors doing more hiring for temporary and gig positions.
It estimates 5 lakh temporary and gig jobs were created during last year’s festive and wedding season (October to December). This year the number is expected to be 6 lakh.
