Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah becomes father, to miss match with Nepal
Jasprit Bumrah and his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, are celebrating the arrival of their baby boy. Bumrah shared the joyous news on Instagram, along with a heartwarming picture.
In his Instagram post, Bumrah wrote, «Our little family has grown, and our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine! This morning we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah, into the world.
We are over the moon and can't wait for everything this new chapter of our lives brings with it. — Jasprit and Sanjana.»
The 29-year-old cricketer had taken leave from the ongoing Asia Cup to be present for the birth of his first child.
He is expected to return in time for the Super Stage of the tournament, commencing on September 6. In his absence, pace veteran Mohammed Shami may step in during the match against Nepal.
Bumrah had recently made a remarkable return to international cricket after being sidelined for over 10 months due to injury.
During India's T20I series against Ireland, where he captained a young Indian team, he not only led them to a series victory but also showcased exceptional fitness and form, taking four wickets in two matches, including best figures of 2/15.
In the Asia Cup Group A, Pakistan secured a spot in the Super Four stage with three points, having won against Nepal and sharing a point with arch-rivals India due to a washout. Now, both India (with 1 point) and Nepal (with 0 points) need to win their match against each other to qualify for the Super Four stage.
Bumrah has so far played 30 test matches in which he has taken 128 wickets and 121 wickets from 72 ODIs.
