CBS Studios is set to launch 'Star Trek: Very Short Treks,' comprising five new animated promotional shorts, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of 'Star Trek: The Animated Series.' Additionally, they will introduce the new comic book, 'Star Trek: The Animated Celebration Presents The Scheimer Barrier.' Both releases are scheduled for Friday, September 8, coinciding with the annual global Star Trek Day celebration.
The 'Very Short Treks' will showcase beloved characters, with voiceovers by original Star Trek cast members, including Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker, Doug Jones as Saru, and Armin Shimerman as Quark. Joining them are new voices, such as Ethan Peck as Spock, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher, Celia Rose Gooding as Uhura, Connor Trinneer as Trip Tucker, Bruce Horak as Hemmer, Noël Wells as Tendi, and the iconic George Takei as Sulu.
'Star Trek: Very Short Treks' is developed with input from creative consultant Casper Kelly, known for his viral hit «Too Many Cooks» and previous work on 'Star Trek: Short Treks' and Adult Swim. The first animated short will premiere exclusively on StarTrek.com and the official Star Trek YouTube channel on Star Trek Day, September 8. Subsequently, four more animated shorts will be released every Wednesday until October 4, at 10:00 A.M. PT/1:00 P.M. ET.
