Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market rises

Lexus Granito(India)Ltd.(up 15.79%), MOIL Ltd.(up 10.88%), Aro Granite Industries Ltd.(up 5.00%), Coal India Ltd.(up 1.94%), NMDC Ltd.(up 1.68%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd.(up 0.46%) and Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd.(up 0.20%) stood among the top gainers.

20 Microns Ltd.(down 2.28%), Oriental Trimex Ltd.(down 1.13%), The Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd.(down 0.92%), Pokarna Ltd.(down 0.70%), Ashapura Minechem Ltd.(down 0.56%) and KIOCL Ltd.(down 0.40%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 167.95 points up at 22570.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 486.5 points at 74339.44.
Axis Bank Ltd.(up 6.0%), State Bank of India(up 5.13%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 4.51%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 2.62%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 2.5%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 2.39%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 2.36%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 2.32%), NTPC Ltd.(up 2.15%) and ITC Ltd.(up 2.02%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 10.88%), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.95%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 1.31%), Titan Company Ltd.(down 1.08%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.07%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 0.47%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 0.36%), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 0.22%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.17%) and HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 0.07%) closed in the red.
