Stock market update: Nifty Auto index 0.42% in a weak market

MRF Ltd.(up 1.49 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(up 1.24 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 0.66 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(up 0.61 per cent) and Bharat Forge Ltd.(up 0.27 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 2.45 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.79 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 0.74 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 0.72 per cent) and Bosch Ltd.(down 0.7 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was 0.42 per cent at 23860.35 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 79.1 points at 24598.7, while the BSE Sensex was 233.05 points at 81476.07.
