Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.21% in a weak market
Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(up 1.54 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.24 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 0.86 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 0.68 per cent) and Bharat Forge Ltd.(up 0.15 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.82 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 0.51 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.5 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.4 per cent) and Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 0.4 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was up 0.21 per cent at 16598.05 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 166.05 points at 19967.25, while the BSE Sensex was down 577.25 points at 67019.59.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.
Shares of IOB, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, JP Power and UCO Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of HSIL, Blue Star, Moksh Ornaments Ltd., Jindal Photo and Chaman Lal Setia hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Pramara Promotions, Jiwanram Sheoduttrai, FutureLifestyleFash, Penta Gold and Jalan Transolutions hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
