Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.28%

Shares of Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 3.05 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.62 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 0.99 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 0.43 per cent) and MRF Ltd.(up 0.24 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 3.67 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.89 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 0.7 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 0.58 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(down 0.42 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.28 per cent up at 21181.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 117.75 points at 22474.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 408.86 points at 74085.99.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.
Shares of Motherson Sumi, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Tata Chemicals, Welspun Invst, Dollar Industries, Cambridge Tech and Laxmi Goldorna House hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while IIFL Finance, Lords Chloro, Agro Tech Foods, Credo Brands Marketi and GPT Healthcare hit their fresh 52-week lows.
