Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.27%

Shares of Eicher Motors(up 1.42 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.99 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International(up 0.47 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 0.45 per cent) and TIINDIA(up 0.22 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack. On the other hand, Bajaj Auto(down 1.72 per cent), MRF(down 1.34 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(down 1.19 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 0.91 per cent) and Tata Motors(down 0.8 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.27 per cent down at 15106.85. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 133.5 points at 19322.55, while the BSE Sensex stood up 486.49 points at 65205.05.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 ended in the green, while 26 closed in the red. Shares of Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
