Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.04% in an upbeat market
GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 3.65 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.45 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(up 1.27 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.86 per cent) and Lupin Ltd.(up 0.7 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 1.8 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 1.14 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.99 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 0.84 per cent) and Abbott India Ltd.(down 0.7 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.04 per cent at 15503.85 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 184.35 points at 19627.9, while the BSE Sensex was up 572.32 points at 65506.19.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 43 were trading in the green, while 7 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, JP Power and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Bang Overseas, Gabriel India, Sreeleather, Ethos Ltd. and EMS L hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rajesh Exports, Compuage Infocom, Atam Valves, Winsome Yarns and Mask Investments hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
