Expressing her grievance, Mamata Banerjee said, «The Prime Minister and Union Home Minister came to Bengal but they did not once mention about storm affected people in Jalpaiguri.» On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee has announced her decision to give Rs 1.20 lakh to the victims, whose houses were damaged and broken. She even emphasized in various rallies that she had rushed at midnight to Jalpaiguri, when she heard that Moynaguri, some areas of Alipurduar and Coochbehar were affected.
Mamata Banerjee said on Saturday from a public rally in Jalpaiguri's Fulbari that she will give Rs 1.20 lakh and Rs 20,000 has already been disbursed by the state administration and the rest will be disbursed for the people who were affected in the storm.
Mamata Banerjee claimed ECI has not allowed the state administration to give funds and BJP is playing games over relief and rehabilitation. Same issue was raised by Trinamool National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
Trinamool Congress is targeting the North Bengal seats, specially focussing on the first and second phase seats, which were predominantly won by BJP.
