‘Swades’ star Gayatri Joshi, husband Vikas Oberoi survive car collision in Italy; elderly couple killed
Joshi, best known for the 2004 Shahrukh Khan-starrer ‘Swades’, recently survived an accident.
The former actress, who was holidaying in Italy along with her husband Vikas Oberoi, got involved in a nasty car crash, when her vehicle collided with several other cars and a camper van. The collision took place in Sardinia reportedly.
According to anETimes report, the crash took place as two vehicles, a Lamborghini and a Ferrari tried to overtake the camper van. An elderly couple named Melissa Karitli (63) and Markus Krautli (67) died from the clash as their vehicle caught fire.
In an interview with Free Press Journal, the ‘Swades’ actress said that she and her husband were “absolutely fine.”
“Vikas and I are in Italy.
We met with an accident here. With God's grace, we both are absolutely fine,” she told the news portal.
The video of the incident was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a user.
Dropping the clip, the user wrote, “Two deaths on a Ferrari in Sardinia, Italy.”
Joshi made her silver screen debut with the drama ‘Swades’ in 2004. Also starring Shah Rukh Khan, the movie was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, of ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Jodha Akbar’ fame.
Although the movie received widespread critical acclaim and her performance was hailed by reviewers, she stepped away from the limelight.
In 2005, she tied the knot with Vikas Oberoi, the owner of Oberoi Constructions. The pair have two children.
