Tata Technologies to drive aerospace growth amid supply chain crisis, airline cabin refurbishments
Aerospace will drive growth for Tata Technologies as it sees an increase in business driven by a supply chain crisis forcing airlines to refurbish cabins as they look to hold onto aircraft longer.
The company has also tied up with major aircraft manufacturers — Airbus and Boeing — and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) firms for faster processes to make grounded aircraft fly.
«The company anticipates substantial growth in aerospace business in the coming years. We aim to be a dominant force in aerospace engineering and the partner of choice for our customers,» Aloke Palsikar, head of aerospace and industrial heavy machinery sales at Tata Technologies, told ET in an interview.
Driven by a rise in leisure travellers willing to pay more for a wider seat, airlines are reconfiguring their cabins to accommodate more premium seats, and Palsikar says that it is driving business. «We are engaged with at least three or four global seat manufacturers. We offer an end-to-end product engineering service from design and styling till integration, the entire roadmap, like how the seat needs to be fitted into the aircraft and other things,» he said.
He said the company was developing expertise so that it could provide service for the entire life of the aircraft right from when it is being built to when a passenger aircraft after years of usage is converted into a freighter plane.
