Bharti Airtel's data centre arm, Nxtra Data, and Reliance Jio are counting on a combination of renewable energy integration, energy efficiency boosters and latest cooling tech to optimise costs and ensure unhindered operation of their data centres, executives said.
A senior Nxtra Data executive told ET: «We've engineered our data centres to withstand high temperatures and also designed overall HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) systems to function optimally within ambient temperatures ranging from 48 to 50 degrees Celsius.»
Energy efficiency measures such as motion sensor-based LED lighting, hot/cold aisle containment, high-efficiency power units as well as real-time energy management had been set in motion across its battery of data centres, the executive said.
Queries to Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea remained unanswered at press time Tuesday.
A person close to Jio said the telecom market leader is deploying optimisation technology based on computational fluid dynamics for effective cooling performance of data centre outdoor units across the country. «Separately, Jio also uses solar power apart from wind and methanol fuel cells to optimise its power mix,» he added.
