the Crown for being too insensitive in its portrayal of the events surrounding Princess Diana's murder.
Dickie Arbiter, a former advisor to Queen Elizabeth II during the time period depicted in Season 6, accused The Crown's writer Peter Morgan of ‘dramatic license gone bonkers.’
Arbiter was particularly scathing of sequences in which Prince Charles (Dominic West) informs Diana's sons, Princes William and Harry, of her death. In the last season, Elizabeth Debicki plays Diana.
«The sequence in which Charles informed his sons of their mother's death was insensitive and unnecessary,» he told Deadline.
«Their mother's death is still fresh in their minds.»
He also added that he felt the scenes between Charles and his mother, in which he(Charles) blurted out that Diana should return in a Harrod's van, were utter nonsense.
According to Arbiter, it just didn't happen that way.
He shed lights on the incident saying “of course, an aircraft would be made available [to transport her body back from France]. That was first agreed upon by the Queen.”
Arbiter also refuted sequences regarding Diana's funeral preparations.
