The interactive map developed by Climate Central indicates that if global temperatures rise by 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by 2100, numerous coastal cities will be at risk. Notably, large portions of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Mobile, Alabama, are projected to be underwater.

Additionally, significant areas along the Texas barrier islands, including parts of Galveston Island and Beaumont, are under threat. In New York City, regions such as Staten Island, Far Rockaway, Queens, and Long Island could be below the tideline by 2100.
The primary contributors to these projected sea-level rises are the melting of ice sheets and glaciers, along with the warming of ocean waters. These factors are accelerating the rate at which sea levels are rising, posing significant challenges to coastal communities.
