Tech giant Meta has announced a new text-based conversation app.
‘Threads’: A Threat To Twitter?The app ‘Threads’ can pose a huge challenge to the microblogging platform Twitter. This app which will reportedly allow users to share text updates and join conversations in real-time comes at a time when Elon Musk has limited the number of tweets users can read per day. What Is ‘Threads’?Created by Instagram’s parent company Meta, ‘Threads’ is a social media platform where users will be able to publish shorts, posts, or updates that have 50 characters. You will be able to add links, pictures and videos (time limit is 5 minutes) Just like Twitter, your feed on ‘Threads’ will include posts and updates from accounts you follow on Instagram or the app. You will also get recommendations for new content. Aside from this, you will be allowed to filter specific words in your feed and limit who is able to mention you.
How To Use Threads?To use Threads, you need to have an Instagram account. Here’s a step-by-step procedure on how to use the app.
Download the app from Google Play Store or App Store. Once downloaded, click on the app and press the “Log In With Instagram” button. Once you establish an account, your Instagram username will be carried over to the app. However, you will be able to create a personalised profile. After logging in, you will able to follow and sent messages to the people you follow on IG. Whenever you create a post or threads, you will be able to limit viewership.
