India International Trade Fair (IITF) set to commence Thursday at Pragati Maidan, the Delhi Traffic Police has released an advisory to manage anticipated high volumes of traffic. The advisory comes as nearly 60,000 visitors are expected daily, with the number likely to surge to 150,000 on weekends and holidays.
Key roads around Pragati Maidan, including Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, Ring Road, Shershah Road, and Purana Quila Road, are predicted to experience significant congestion during the event. A traffic officer recommended avoiding these areas, opting for public transportation, and allowing extra time for travel.
To manage the increased flow of vehicles, Delhi Traffic Police has deployed 305 personnel working in three shifts to cover the area 24/7. «We have deployed 305 traffic police personnel in three shifts to manage the traffic around Pragati Maidan round-the-clock. Additionally, we have mobilized 15 cranes, 16 motorcycle patrols, and three disaster management vehicles in the vicinity,» stated Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ajay Chaudhary.
Chaudhary further added, “To assist visitors, we have set up six traffic help desks and a dedicated traffic awareness stall to promote road safety. We have also established a separate traffic control room at the ITPO Admin Block to ensure the smooth functioning of the fair.”
