RPF Constable Chetan Singh, arrested in connection with the shooting of four individuals aboard the Jaipur-Mumbai Superfast Express last week, called his his wife immediately following the incident, informing her of her newfound responsibility to raise their children independently. As per ToI report, on Saturday, Renu Singh, the spouse of the accused, along with his mother, arrived in Mumbai from Mathura, providing their statements before the Borivali Government Railway Police (GRP). Renu submitted medical records outlining her husband's past treatments, including documentation from a neurological hospital in Mathura.
The authenticity of these documents will be verified by law enforcement, who may also enlist the evaluation of government medical professionals to assess the claims made in the medical reports. The investigation has also revealed that he had informed his senior about his health. In the early hours of July 31, Singh had consistently informed his superior, ASI Tikaram Meena, about his deteriorating health and desire to disembark at Valsad, a non-designated stop.
However, Meena suggested that he rest aboard the train. Singh contacted Renu to apprise her of his inability to exit the train despite his discomfort. Subsequent communications indicated an improvement in his condition.
