Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has been seeing an increase in transactions across the board, says ONDC Chief Business Officer, Shireesh Joshi. He added that while the exact numbers couldn't be revealed, the volume of orders for the brands that have joined the network has been increasing since January. ET recently reported that a study done by the Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India (ICCI) services financial firm showed that daily transactions in the network would scale up to 200,000 from the present 80,000 by December.
Akshay D’ Souza, Bizom’s Chief of Growth and Insights said that while initially these companies were just testing the waters of ONDC an increase in both the order volume as well as improvements in the service level had been observed recently. This, according to him, has resulted in an increase in the number of both the suppliers and brands that were adopting the service. “There are various sectors that are now moving on to ONDC; it is not just limited to the FMCG sector, food and beverages are a large category that can be observed moving towards being part of the service,” he added.
He also said that Bizom had recently onboarded 30 new brands as seller network participants to the ONDC with 35 more brands in the process of joining the network. He added that the 35 brands in the process of joining were from across the packaged food, homecare, consumer durables, edible oils and beverages sector. As a seller network participant these brands would be responsible for connecting sellers to the ONDC network through the application.
