True Detective." The upcoming season, titled «True Detective: Night Country,» will debut on January 14 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and Max. Jodie Foster and Kali Reis will lead the cast, and Issa López will serve as the show's showrunner, writer, and director for all episodes. HBO also unveiled a new teaser for the show.
The official season description reads, «In Ennis, Alaska, when the long winter night arrives, the eight men at the Tsalal Arctic Research Station disappear without a trace. Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) must confront their inner darkness and uncover the buried truths beneath the eternal ice to solve the case.»
In addition to Foster and Reis, the cast includes Finn Bennett, Fiona Shaw, Christopher Eccleston, Isabella Star LaBlanc, and John Hawkes. Guest stars will include Anna Lambe, Aka Niviâna, June Thiele, Diane Benson, and Joel D. Montgrand.
Jodie Foster will also serve as an executive producer alongside Mari Jo Winkler. Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, and Mark Ceryak of Pastel Productions, along with Chris Mundy, Alan Page Arriaga, Steve Golin, Richard Brown, Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Cary Joji Fukunaga, and Nic Pizzolatto, will also be executive producers.
Notably, Nic Pizzolatto is the creator of «True Detective,» and McConaughey, Harrelson, and Fukunaga were part of Season 1. Princess Daazhraii Johnson, Cathy Tagnak Rexford, and Sam Breckman will serve as producers for the new season, with Daazhraii Johnson and Tagnak Rexford leading an Iñupiaq advisory council to consult on Alaska Native culture depicted in the series.
