Trump has reiterated his commitment to addressing illegal immigration by declaring a national emergency and deploying US military resources to support mass deportations. The confirmation came Monday via his social media platform, Truth Social, where he endorsed a post suggesting the use of military assets for a large-scale deportation initiative.
Trump’s post confirmed plans described by Tom Fitton, head of Judicial Watch, a conservative group. Fitton had written earlier this month about using emergency powers and military resources for deportation efforts. Responding at 4 a.m., Trump reposted the statement, writing, “TRUE!!!”
Presidential emergency declarations grant significant authority to redirect funds and mobilize resources, as demonstrated during Trump’s first term when he diverted military funds for the construction of a border wall. This time, the focus appears to be on creating expansive detention facilities to house individuals awaiting deportation, according to Trump’s immigration adviser Stephen Miller.
Miller indicated these facilities, overseen by the Department of Homeland Security, would enable expedited deportations. Currently, space limitations within Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities pose significant challenges to large-scale detention and deportation efforts.

To address these constraints, Trump’s team plans to expand expedited removal procedures and rely on temporarily
