It’s been the season of theatrical re-releases! After Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Rockstar’ and Tripti Dimri’s ‘Laila Majnu’, the 2018 cult horror film became the latest movie to return to the theatres. The folk horror film, which re-hit the theatres on Friday the 13th, earned over Rs 1.63 crore on day one of release. Ever since the movie was re-released, it has become the talk of the town, and many viewers are now eager to catch it on OTT.
The 2018 fantasy horror drama originally debuted on the streaming service Prime Video. For a period, it was accessible on that platform, but a few months back, Amazon Prime Video removed it from their Indian catalog. Despite this, the film can still be streamed on Prime Video in the UK. Meanwhile, the opening sequence of the movie is now viewable on JioCinema.
Helmed by Rahi Anil Barve and produced under the Sohum Shah Films banner, the moody horror drama Tumbbad was met with widespread critical praise upon its theatrical release on October 12, 2018. On its opening day, the film earned Rs 65 lakh and went on to conclude its box office run with a net revenue exceeding Rs 12 crore. Upon its re-release on September 13, Tumbbad outperformed the re-release earnings of iconic films like Sholay, Mughal-e-Azam, and Rockstar.
