Steven Flockhart, who made an appearance on a number of shows like "American Idol" and «The Voice», was arrested after he was allegedly accused of identity theft and theft of merchandise in Shelby County. Flockhart who serves as the main pastor of the 901 Church, was accused of stealing the identity of a member of his own congregation as reported by WREG.
The alleged incident of identity theft traces back to the year 2019, when Flockhart, in conjunction with a church member, jointly opened a credit card account in the name of the church. The victim, in this case, asserts that Flockhart approached him, soliciting his personal information, which he reluctantly shared with the pastor.
Little did the victim know that this seemingly harmless act would have grave repercussions for his financial stability.
Fast forward to September 2023, and the victim was taken aback by the discovery of a substantial plummet in his credit score. A thorough examination of his credit report unearthed an unauthorized credit card in his name, carrying an outstanding balance of $6,410.
When confronted by the victim, Flockhart admitted to his wrongdoing, confessing to the fabrication of documents and the impersonation of the victim to secure the credit card.
Further exacerbating the gravity of the situation, the phone number linked to the fraudulent account was traced back to Flockhart, thereby substantiating the evidence against him. Legal documents divulge Flockhart's prior involvement in similar identity theft cases in Georgia, resulting in a lawsuit in the year 2020.
These allegations against Pastor Flockhart have not only given rise to legal apprehensions but have also ignited a storm of controversy within the 901 Church community.
