General Hospital family is mourning the death of one of their own stars Tyler Christopher. Following Tyler’s death, members of the show conveyed their heartfelt condolences.
Maurice Benard wrote on Instagram on October 31 that the cast members were saddened to announce the news of Tyler Christopher's passing.
He mentioned that Tyler had passed away in the morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment. Maurice described Tyler as a truly talented person who had the ability to light up the screen in every scene he performed and took great pleasure in bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting.
While fans observed Tyler's portrayal of Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital for approximately two decades, Maurice also shared insights about the person he was when not on screen.
He mentioned that Tyler had been a kind-hearted person and a great friend to those acquainted with him. Maurice further noted that Tyler had advocated for improved mental health and substance use treatment, openly discussing his own battles with bipolar depression and alcohol.
He expressed deep sorrow over the passing of his friend and extended prayers for Tyler's children and his father.
Kin Shriner also expressed his condolences on X, formerly known as Twitter. He mentioned having had the pleasure of working with Tyler a few months ago, along with reminiscing about the enjoyable times at General Hospital.
