UFC President Dana White posted on X (formerly Twitter) that McGregor is still recovering from an injury and this has delayed the bout. The new main event will feature a bout between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka.

This started when a press conference between the two fighters which was scheduled to have been held on June 3 was cancelled. The UFC did not offer any reason and did not even share a new date for the press conference. Fans were convinced that there will be a delay in the bout between the two fighters. McGregor had then said that the press conference was called off “due to a series of obstacles outside our control”.

This fight was supposed to have been McGregor’s first bout after UFC 264 in 2021. He had lost to Dustin Poirier after suffering a serious leg injury.
