UFO and Alien sightings have a separate level of craze and now residents of Japan's city are banking on the same fascination for economic prosperity. Japanese city named Kofu is located in Yamanashi Prefecture, at the foothill of Mount Fuji.
Kofu will commemorate the 50th anniversary of a notable event in which two elementary school children reported encountering UFOs and alien. The incident grabbed spotlight and widely considered as one of «three major UFO incidents» reported in the country, as per a report on JapanToday.
The purported incident occurred on February 23, 1975, when two young boys in Kofu reported seeing two orange, flashing, saucer-shaped UFOs around 6:30 pm local time. According to their account, a 120- to 130-centimeter tall alien with a large head, elongated ears, and three fangs descended from one of the crafts. The boys described the alien as having a brown face devoid of eyes or a nose, adding a peculiar and unsettling detail to the encounter that has fascinated and puzzled UFO enthusiasts for decades, according to Japan Today report.
Japan Anniversary Association has registered February 23 as Kofu UFO Day.
Locals are eager to turn the city into UFO tourism centre.
Meanwhile, two other such incidents were reported in 1972 in Kochi Prefecture and Hokkaido in 1974.
