As of now, Netflix has not officially confirmed a sequel to Uglies, leaving fans in suspense regarding the future of the story. The movie’s performance has been impressive, securing its position as one of Netflix’s top two most-watched films over the past few weeks. It has racked up over 56 million views, a strong figure that gives hope for a follow-up.

According to Westerfeld, the author of the series, Anonymous Content holds the rights to adapt all his books. Speaking to What’s on Netflix, Westerfeld expressed optimism: “It seems like we’ve got a great base of views to have at least a couple of sequels made, as long as people keep watching.”
However, as of now, Netflix has yet to greenlight Uglies 2. Both Joey King, who played the lead role of Tally Youngblood and served as an executive producer, and director McG have expressed a desire to continue the story, but they emphasize that much depends on how well the first movie performs. “It’s tough to get movies made, and it needs to be worth it,” McG told Deadline. For now, it seems the audience’s response will determine whether Uglies 2 and Pretties will see the light of day.
