Thomas, 24, was found guilty of stabbing Bush, 23, a staggering 37 times with a kitchen knife and a flick knife. Hours before the attack, Thomas had searched online for the anatomy of the neck. Though he admitted to manslaughter, he denied committing murder.
A «Planned Attack»
The BBC revealed that Thomas is the grandson of Sir Stanley Thomas, whose family founded Peter's Pies. Prosecutors described the killing as a «planned attack.»
On the day of the murder, Thomas’s grandmother, Sharon Burton, drove him to the house. Upon arrival, he retrieved the weapons, entered Bush's bedroom, and launched the fatal assault. Witnesses nearby reported hearing «screams of horror» from the home.
After the attack, Thomas called 999, claiming Bush had «gone mental» and stabbed him. However, prosecutors argued it was a premeditated crime. Judge Steyn described the murder as «particularly terrifying,» highlighting that Bush was attacked in the safety of his bedroom by someone he trusted.
