Howard Wicks faced a life-altering issue when he suffered from Locked-In Syndrome. Howard, who is 29 years old, is paralyzed except for his capacity to think, perceive, and communicate only with his eyes. Howard started a remarkable 18-month adventure to write a 50,000-word book using an Eye Gaze computer, which tracks eye movements. He characterized the procedure as difficult yet cathartic at the same time. At first, Howard enjoyed talking about the portions of his life before the stroke, but the pressure to complete the book also started to get to him, as reported by 'Daily Mail Online'.
Readers are given insight into Howard's identity by starting the narrative with his life before his stroke. It covers his experiences from the age of sixteen to the present, culminating in his journey from hospital life to integration into the community, Howard told BBC.

A rare neurological disorder known as Locked-In Syndrome is characterized by total paralysis of all voluntary muscles except those regulating eye movements. It primarily affects just a few percent of individuals and is brought on by brainstem damage from problems such as inadequate blood flow or bleeding after severe trauma. The majority of patients are still cognizant but are mainly dependent on caretakers for daily necessities because they are unable to move, chew, swallow, or speak.
