Karnataka, a group of six men barged into a lodge room and brutally assaulted a couple for being together despite practising different faiths. Videos of the attack, filmed by the assailants themselves, have surfaced, revealing a disturbing trend of violence against individuals from diverse religious backgrounds. This comes just days after another incident where two cousins were assaulted in the state under similar circumstances.
The attackers recorded themselves waiting outside the couple's lodge room in Hanagal Taluk, Haveri District.
After noting the room number, they forcefully entered, targeting the woman who tried to shield her face with a burqa. The assailants, uttering offensive language, physically attacked the woman, causing her to fall. The man was also assaulted when attempting to escape.
Disturbingly, the attackers filmed the entire episode, seemingly proud of their actions.
In another video taken outside the lodge after the assault, the woman desperately tries to cover her face, but the men lift her hijab and continue filming her.
The couple, deeply affected by the incident, filed a complaint at the Hanagal police station. Two of the six attackers, belonging to the minority community, have been arrested. The police have charged them with attempting to murder, kidnapping, and outraging the modesty of a woman.
