Tendulkar recorded six centuries in as six editions of World Cups that he played, Rohit achieved the feat in only three: 2015, 2019 and 2023. Rohit Sharma also holds the record of scoring most centuries (five) by any batter in a World Cup edition — a feat that he achieved in 2019 edition in England.
Rohit Sharma hit 131 off 84 balls against Afghanistan, which was his 31st ton overall, taking him past Australian legend Ricky Ponting.
He is now behind India's Virat Kohli (47) and Tendulkar (49) in the history of ODI cricket. The Indian skipper hit a ton off just 63 balls, also breaking Kapil Dev's (72 balls) record of fastest ODI century for India in World Cup history.

Sachin, who played 45 fifty-over World Cup games, scored 2,278 runs at an average of 56.95 with six centuries and 15 fifties. Tendulkar, who retired from ODI cricket in 2012, did not feature any T20I World Cups. Virat has 2,311 runs in 55 matches and 53 innings across T20 and 50 over World Cups.
