West Bengal Assembly panel warns Trinamool MLA Humayun Kabir over religious remarks
West Bengal Assembly on Tuesday warned Trinamool MLA Humayun Kabir and asked him not to speak about any religion as Trinamool Congress.
The Convener of the Committee, Sobhondeb Chattoapdhyay said as an MLA the Constitution should be followed as he has taken oath.
“We have explained it to him and pointed out what he said repeatedly. It is against the ideology and principles of our party and directives of our party Supremo Mamata Banerjee. As long as he is an MLA of Trinamool Congress, he will have to abide by this. This time, Kabir agreed. He has been asked not to speak about any religion as we believe in the coexistence of all religions. Kabir assured us that he will not speak a single word on the issue,” Convener of the Committee, Sobhondeb Chattoapdhyay said.
Kabir has been asked to express his grievances in closed doors. “There are a set of directives given to us by the Trinamool Supremo. We all follow them,” he said.
The Disciplinary Committee of the West Bengal assembly had decided to give directive Trinamool Congress Bharatpur MLA Humayun Kabir on Tuesday and was summoned by the Committee for making a statement of communal nature about allegedly attacking the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari, Convener of the Committee Sobhondeb Chattopadhyay said today.
