West Bengal Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Significance
In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, emerged as the largest party in West Bengal with 18 seats. However, this was a significant decrease from the 30 seats they won in 2014. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made remarkable gains, securing 18 seats in 2019 compared to just two in 2014.

The General Elections of 2024 in West Bengal are expected to be conducted in several phases, likely spanning both April and May. In 2019, West Bengal voted in all seven phases of the election, and a similar pattern is expected this time, possibly spanning seven to ten phases.

West Bengal has 42 Lok Sabha constituencies, making it one of the most significant states in terms of parliamentary representation. Out of these, 30 seats are unreserved, while ten are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates and two for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
