Prosecutors have revealed troubling details about Bhatt’s actions in the days leading up to his wife’s disappearance. In the months before Mamta went missing, Bhatt made several online searches that raised suspicion. Among these were queries like «How soon can you remarry after a spouse dies?» and «What happens to debt after a spouse dies?» These searches suggest that Bhatt may have been planning for life after his wife’s death long before she was reported missing.
In addition to the online searches, Bhatt was seen purchasing three knives at a Walmart store. Surveillance footage showed him buying cleaning supplies at a different location the following day. Prosecutors claim that shortly after Mamta disappeared, Bhatt disposed of bloodstained items, including a bath mat, into a trash compactor, further supporting their case.
