What worked for BJP in Jammu division: Right Act and a divided Congress
BJP better in J&K but the second best scenario of being the main Opposition and retaining its hold over the Jammu division comes as a big solace for the party.

Haryana's political showdown revealed
Despite some resentment in Jammu due to high unemployment and deprivation of special rights in trade and business, the electorate backed BJP mainly due to the pro-370 abrogation sentiment.
A subdued campaign by Congress made the ride easy for BJP in the first assembly polls after the removal of special status of the erstwhile state on August 5, 2019. All 29 seats won by the party are from the Jammu division where the total number of seats stands at 43 after delimitation that led to addition of six seats in Jammu region. The move benefited BJP which had won 25 seats in the 2014 elections.
BJP faced several intra-party challenges, ranging from controversies surrounding its senior leaders. Former deputy CM Nirmal Singh and former Speaker Kavindra Gupta were not fielded this time as well as other leaders who faced some charges.
