Harold and the Purple Crayon, which is based on the beloved book by Crocket Johnson, will soon be available for streaming on Netflix. The film follows Harold, a young boy who creates magical adventures with his purple crayon.
As part of Sony Pictures' ongoing distribution deal with Netflix, Harold and the Purple Crayon will debut on the platform on October 31, 2024, in the United States. This agreement allows Netflix to stream select Sony movies after their theatrical releases, usually within about 120 days.

Under this deal, Harold and the Purple Crayon will remain on Netflix for 18 months, after which it will move to Hulu or Disney+ in April 2026. The film follows other Sony releases, such as Madame Web and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which also appeared on Netflix through the same deal.
Netflix users in regions outside the United States, including India, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and South Africa, will be able to watch Harold and the Purple Crayon in late November 2024. By 2025, additional countries, including Germany and the Netherlands, are scheduled to receive the film as part of the global release.
