Sturgeon Moon, a blue supermoon, will shine tonight in the night sky. When a full moon is at its closest point to Earth in its orbit, a special moon occurs. Because of this, it seems bigger and brighter than a typical full moon. The last supermoon of the year is here, and skywatchers are thrilled to have such a unique sight. Americans won't be able to see the supermoon at its peak, which is scheduled for 2:26 p.m. EST, because it will be during the day. For the next three evenings, the moon will continue to appear larger and brighter, as per the reports of The Mirror.
It should be noted that the blue supermoon will not be visible again until 2037 for anyone who misses it tonight. This means that for many, witnessing this celestial event is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Because a supermoon is closer to Earth than a regular full moon, it appears around 14% larger and 30% brighter. Although not a scientific word, «supermoon» has gained popularity to describe this amazing phenomenon.
