Cole Palmer, the 21-year old midfielder for English Premier League club Chelsea and England, displayed a stunning performance against his former club Manchester City yesterday at the former’s home ground Stamford Bridge.
Palmer not only displayed immense maturity throughout the match with his dribbling and pass distribution which cut apart the opponent’s midfield and defense, but ended the night by scoring a penalty under massive pressure during injury time to equalize the score at 4-4.
Chelsea’s season has been quite up and down as their manager Mauricio Pochettino is still understanding how to get the best out of a team which has promising young players like Palmer. They came into this fixture after a chaotic 4-1 win against London rivals and then league toppers Tottenham Hotspurs.
Palmer was born on 6th May, 2002 in the suburb town of Wythenshawe, Manchester, UK. He is the youngest child and has an older brother and sister. As per reports, Palmer was a very shy kid and only his family members were able to understand him as a person. His tryst with football came at a very early age where he started to play football with his father in the local parks.
Reportedly, Palmer’s parents are also praised for raising their son right who is believed to be one of the most humble and down-to-earth players in the league.
Contrary to popular belief, Palmer did not start playing in Manchester City’s academy team, but was a part of his hometown’s club NJ Wythenshawe. Reports state that Cole was seen to be a “dead-small,” but quick player and had other players chasing him when he ran with the ball. One of the coaches at NJ Wythenshawe was reported to have said that players “couldn’t get the ball off Palmer.”
