Piaia's honourable discharge from the military occurred on July 4, 1946, marking a significant milestone in his military career. Based on official military documents, Duce Piaia was deployed overseas as part of the 90th Division, serving in various regiments and battalions including the 358th Infantry Regiment, 358th Engineers General Service Regiment, and the 1258th Engineers Combat Battalion.
