Jeremy Doku, one of the latest recruits for English Premier League champions Manchester City was highly praised by the club’s manager Pep Guardiola as he stated that the 21-year old winger is making an “unbelievable impact.”
As per reports, Doku, a right-winger for Belgium was recruited by City earlier this year during the league’s summer transfer window for a fee of £55.5 million from the French league club, Rennes. Doku was signed as a replacement on the right-wing for Riyad Mahrez who left City to sign for Saudi Arabian club, Al-Ahli in the same transfer window.
On joining City, Doku said that this club is “the best team in world football” and hence, it’s a very special feeling to be joining them.
Doku was born in the city of Antwerp in Belgium on 27th May, 2002 and showed interest in football from a very early age. His parents were extremely supportive in his passion for the game and nurtured him by providing him the necessary tools to help him take his passion forward.
Doku came from a sporting family where his father, David Doku, was a former athlete while his brother Jefferson Doku was a part of Belgian club Anderlecht’s youth team as well.
Doku, much like brother, also joined Anderlecht’s youth team.
His impressive performances earned him a call to the club’s senior team in 2018. He scored his first professional goal for the club on 1st December 2019.
