Priya Saroj, aged 26, is the Member of Parliament for Uttar Pradesh’s Machhlishahr constituency. She entered politics in 2024, defeating BJP’s BP Saroj by a margin of over 35,000 votes to become one of India’s youngest MPs. Coming from a family entrenched in politics, Priya is the daughter of Tufani Saroj, a three-time MP and current MLA from Kerakat.

Despite her political lineage, Priya’s initial career aspirations lay elsewhere. “Though my father is a seasoned politician and has won Lok Sabha polls consistently between 1999 and 2014, I never thought of becoming a politician while growing up. After graduating in law, I started preparing for judgeship exams during the Covid-19 pandemic. Even when my ticket was announced, I was taking online classes for the exams," Priya told The Indian Express.
Priya’s educational journey includes schooling at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi, a BA from Delhi University, and an LLB from Amity University, Noida. She also practised as a lawyer in the Supreme Court before stepping into politics.
