Casey DeSantis, created confusion on the campaign trail by urging supporters of her husband, Ron DeSantis, to gather in Iowa for its upcoming caucuses.
She stated on Fox News, that the campaign is asking all of moms and grandmoms to come from wherever it might be—North Carolina, South Carolina—and descend upon the state of Iowa to be a part of the caucus because according to her it is not necessary to be a resident of Iowa to be able to participate in the caucus.
She continued by stating that mothers and grandmothers would have the opportunity to participate, expressing their support for Ron DeSantis and letting their voices be heard.
Following this, the Iowa Republican party reminded everyone that to participate in the #iacaucus, people must be legal residents of Iowa, residing in the precinct, and bring their photo ID.
Casey DeSantis promptly clarified her remarks, emphasizing to supporters that only Iowa residents were eligible to vote in the caucuses. She mentioned that other supporters could still contribute and express their support.
