Prime Video did not respond to Mint’s queries for the story.Entertainment industry experts say such changes are part of a broader localisation strategy adopted by OTT platforms operating in India, shaped by regulatory uncertainty, cultural sensitivities and commercial risk considerations. The result, they add, is often consumer frustration, and in some cases, increased piracy as viewers seek unedited versions.Unlike theatrical films, OTT content in India is presently not subject to pre-certification by the Central Board of Film Certification.
