This question is being asked because the SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) are most likely to meet and hold talks after July 7 due to the weekend and the Independence Day holiday. If media reports are to be believed, DGA has encouraged SAG-AFTRA to avoid a strike and make a deal. What will happen if the actors also join the strike? Which television series and films will be delayed unexpectedly? This is a serious question because many series have been completed and only a few patchworks here and there are required.
So what will happen to those television series and movies? As a fallout of the WGA strike, Disney has delayed the release of many films like ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ and ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’. Thunderbolt could not be completed due to the strike, and now it is not expected to hit the screens before the fourth quarter of 2024. Similarly, ‘Dreadpool’ was near its completion and now it can be released only in May 2024.
The release of ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ has been postponed to July 2024. The shooting of most of the scripted television series has been shelved due to the writers’ strike. Robert De Niro’s ‘Zero Day’, ‘The Old Man’, ‘Severance’ and J.J.
Abrams’ ‘Duster’, ‘The Penguin’, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, ‘Billions’, have been stopped. Besides, the writing of ‘Abbott Elementary’, ‘Yellowjackets’, ‘Stranger Thing' and ‘Cobra Kai’ has been halted. Apple’s ‘Metropolis’, from Sam Esmail has been closed down completely.
