ABC's recent acquisition of "911" has proven to be a significant success for the network. The seventh season of the procedural drama kicked off with a gripping three-episode premiere arc, drawing in increasing numbers of viewers with each episode.
Highlights of the season included Buck's journey of self-discovery as he comes out as bisexual and the tumultuous yet heartwarming wedding storyline of Maddie and Chimney. With the season finale just a week away, fans eagerly anticipate the developments of the upcoming eighth season, which was greenlit in April.
No Plans for a Crossover
Despite the enthusiasm for more content, hopes for a crossover between «911» and its spin-off «911: Lone Star» appear dim. Craig Erwich, President of Disney Television Group, recently told TVLine that he is «not aware» of any plans for a crossover in the 2024-2025 season. This revelation is disappointing for fans who have enjoyed the rare but exciting crossovers in the past.
Challenges of Crossovers
As mentioned in a report by Collider, crossovers between «911» and «911: Lone Star» were already challenging when both shows aired on FOX, primarily due to their settings in different parts of the United States. The Los Angeles-based firefighters of «911» and their Texas counterparts in «911: Lone Star» had limited opportunities to interact, making such events a logistical challenge.
Now that the shows are on separate networks, the possibility of crossovers seems even more unlikely.
