At leadership roles like director, vice president, CXO, or partner at Indian companies, there are currently two women compared with 10 men, the same as in 2020, according to the findings of the study by professional networking platform LinkedIn and shared exclusively with ET.
For this study, LinkedIn has mapped 120 million profiles on its platform across 18 sectors.
«The needle of progress towards gender equality in leadership roles has barely budged from 2020 to 2024, lingering stubbornly at 23-25%. This paints a vivid picture of the uphill battle we face in bridging the gender gap at the highest levels,» Ruchee Anand, LinkedIn India's senior director of talent and learning solutions, told ET.
Sectors like technology, information & media, which employ a large number of female staffers, have seen a downward trend in women in leadership roles, as were real estate, transportation and logistics. Industries like construction, oil, gas & mining and utilities, on the other hand, have seen more women getting into such positions.
