Sullivan said it had been two decades since former PM Manmohan Singh signed the Civil Nuclear Deal with the then US President George Bush, but the two countries are yet to realise civil nuclear cooperation.
The US is finalising necessary steps to avoid any obstructions, including the removal of Indian companies from the sanctions' list. The paperwork for this step is still pending, Sullivan said during his India trip which also happens to be his last visit abroad as US NSA.
Sullivan reaffirmed the strength of US-India ties during an address at IIT-Delhi, emphasising the deep investments both nations have in their partnership. He revealed that India would soon become one of the first foreign manufacturers of the Stryker armoured vehicles, a significant milestone in the defence partnership between the two nations. Sullivan spoke of the role of the US-India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology.
